We want the Doha Running Festival to be as kind to the planet as it is to your PB. RunThrough is one of the world's largest running-event organisers, and we bring the same sustainability commitments to Qatar — cutting waste, recycling what we use, and choosing lower-impact materials wherever we can.
How we run greener
Recycled race kit
Our RunThrough vests are made from recycled plastic bottles — around 10 bottles per vest — with a carbonised-bamboo inner layer for comfort. T-shirts are offered only as an add-on at checkout, so we make what runners actually want and save millions of bottles a year. Every factory producing our kit is SMETA-audited for ethical manufacturing.
Water & cups
Where the venue allows, we use water canisters and paper cups instead of single-use bottles. Any bottles handed out on course are collected and recycled within seven days of the event, and recyclables are separated from general waste at every race.
Lower-impact medals
We use wooden medals where we can — they produce far less CO2 to make. Metal medals are cast from recycled zinc, and we order carefully to keep wastage to a minimum.
No plastic goody bags
We've done away with plastic goody bags. Anything for you after the finish line is laid out individually on tables, so you take only what you need.
Paper-free events
Entries are fully online, race information and pre-event comms go out by email and on the website, and results are published online — so there's no paper to print or throw away.
Better events, lighter footprint
The team at RunThrough will keep striving to make our events as environmentally friendly as possible — while still delivering first-class running events to hundreds of thousands of runners, year on year.
